Nearly 1,000 pounds of ready-to-eat beef jerky are being pulled from shelves after federal inspectors found the products were sold with unauthorized USDA labels and had not been properly inspected.
The recall covers 946 pounds of jerky from Imperio Distribution LLC, according to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The company initiated the recall on October 24 after routine FSIS surveillance uncovered the false labels.
So far, there are no confirmed reports of illness linked to the products.
All recalled items come in 2-ounce sealed bags marked "carne seca / beef jerky" and bear "1885" inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were packaged between January and October 2026: Imperio Fuego Beef Jerky, Imperio Original Beef Jerky and Imperio Limón Beef Jerky.
Do not eat the jerky if you have it at home. FSIS advises consumers to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase. Imported meat products must pass US re-inspection to check for safety, labeling, and allergen risks — products that skip that step are routinely recalled.
