Truth Social paid access is now a named Wall Street business. Bloomberg, the financial news and data provider, and two high-frequency trading firms, Susquehanna International Group and Jump Trading, have agreed to pay for faster access to President Donald Trump's posts on Truth Social, Reuters reported on October 28, 2026, citing people with direct knowledge of the matter. The service, known as Truth API, is sold for up to $100,000 a month, and its purchase by three such prominent names had not previously been reported.

The revelation matters because Trump's posts do not stay on a social network. They move prices. A tariff announcement, a ceasefire claim or a comment about a company can send shares, oil futures and currencies swinging within seconds, and the firms that react first can profit from moves that ordinary investors only see later. Truth API is built for exactly that race: a licensed, real-time feed that delivers posts from Truth Social's most influential accounts directly to a subscriber's systems, milliseconds ahead of a person scrolling through the app.

Key Points

• Bloomberg, Susquehanna International Group and Jump Trading have signed up for Truth Social's Truth API, Reuters reported on October 28, 2026, citing people with direct knowledge.
• Truth API costs up to $100,000 a month, with a reported $60,000-a-month rate for firms committing to three years; Trump Media told investors in August it had signed more than 10 customer agreements, mostly with Wall Street trading firms.
• The timing advantage is described by Trump Media officials as 50 milliseconds, enough, in high-frequency trading, for software to read, analyse and execute a trade before most investors have seen the post.
• President Trump's family trust owns 41% of Trump Media and Technology Group, and Trump is the trust's sole beneficiary, according to Reuters; Trump Media disputes the reporting and says it is based on misleading information from anonymous sources.
• The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation sued in August 2026, calling the paid feed "profoundly corrupt" and arguing it violates the First and Fifth Amendments; the case is ongoing.

What Happened

Reuters reported that Truth Social, the platform founded by Trump, has signed up Bloomberg and the two trading firms for faster access to the president's posts. Bloomberg, Jump Trading and Susquehanna all declined to comment, Reuters said. The report does not say what each firm is paying, only that the service is sold for up to $100,000 a month. Trump Media and Technology Group, which owns Truth Social, announced its fastest-access product in July 2026 and pitched it to trading firms and other financial institutions.

An API, or application programming interface, is a digital bridge that lets one system pull data from another automatically. In this case, it lets a trading firm's software ingest a Trump post the moment it is published, rather than waiting for a human to notice it, copy it or react to a headline. High-frequency traders employ software that ingests news headlines, company announcements and government statements, searches them for market-moving information, and can execute a trade in thousandths of a second. For them, 50 milliseconds is not a rounding error; it can be the difference between buying before a price moves and chasing it afterwards.

Reuters, itself a financial-news competitor to Bloomberg, said in a statement: "We will assess the service, but have no current plans to subscribe." That line underlines the awkward position the product creates for news organisations: the same feed that gives traders an edge also gives newsrooms speed, and declining it may mean reporting a market-moving post seconds after a rival that paid for it.

Background and Context

Truth API was unveiled on July 16, 2026, and went live on August 1, 2026. Trump Media described it as a licensed, real-time feed of the platform's "most market-moving Truths", covering posts from its 10 most influential accounts, including Trump's own account, the White House, Vice President JD Vance and other senior administration figures. Interim chief executive Kevin McGurn said markets "already move on Truth Social posts" and that the company expected the product to become a meaningful, ongoing source of revenue.

By August, McGurn told investors the company had signed more than 10 customer agreements, and later said the count was in the mid-teens and climbing. Trump Media told investors in August that those customers were primarily Wall Street trading firms paying between $60,000 and $100,000 a month. At $100,000 a month, a single annual subscription costs $1.2 million; at the reported three-year rate of $60,000 a month, it costs $720,000 a year. For a high-frequency desk, that is a small price if a single large trade, executed milliseconds ahead of the market, earns many times more.

The company itself is loss-making and volatile. Reuters reported that Trump Media's shares have fallen more than 50% so far this year, that the company closed at a market value of about $8 billion in its March 2024 debut and is now worth about $1.8 billion, and that it has lost about $1.76 billion since 2024, including non-cash charges. Its second-quarter 2026 results reported $1.7 million in revenue, up nearly 90% from $0.9 million a year earlier, alongside a $238.1 million net loss for the quarter, much of it non-cash, including losses on digital assets. Against that backdrop, a recurring institutional subscription business is, for Trump Media, a strategic prize, not a side project.

Trump's posts have repeatedly moved markets, which is why the product exists at all. Reuters cited one example: oil futures sank after Trump announced on Truth Social a ceasefire in the Iran war in April 2026. An earlier, widely cited example came on April 9, 2025, when US indexes jumped after Trump posted that he would pause many of his new tariffs for 90 days. Posts on tariffs, foreign policy, military action and individual companies have all produced sharp swings in equities, commodities and crypto markets, as algorithmic strategies react automatically to headlines.

Truth Social Paid Access and the 50-Millisecond Edge

The 50-millisecond figure, attributed by Reuters to Trump Media officials, is the heart of the controversy and the heart of the sales pitch. To a human reader, 50 milliseconds is imperceptible. To a trading algorithm, it is an eternity: enough time to parse a sentence, classify it as bullish or bearish for a particular asset, and place an order before a rival algorithm that is still waiting for the public feed. That is why the product is sold to high-frequency firms first, and why critics say it is not comparable to an ordinary news subscription.

Trump Media's defence is that this is industry-standard practice. In a statement to Reuters, the company said: "Truth Social offers an industry-standard API product for which there is significant demand across industries. We take customer confidentiality seriously. This reporting is based on misleading information being peddled by anonymous sources aimed at harming our company, customers and shareholders." A company spokesperson added, in response to Democratic criticism, that critics "continue to mischaracterize Truth API either out of ideological opposition to free markets or a failure to grasp the distinction between public and nonpublic information."

The distinction the company draws is important to its legal position: the posts themselves remain public, and anyone can read them for free a fraction of a second later. What subscribers buy is not the information itself, the company argues, but speed and structure, a machine-readable feed rather than a screen to scroll. Other major platforms, including X and Reddit, also sell institutional data access through API products, and Trump Media has said some firms had been scraping Truth Social data in violation of its terms of service. Critics reply that the analogy fails when the account in question belongs to a sitting president whose posts are, in effect, government announcements.

Reactions and Quotes

The White House sought to distance the president from the commercial decision. White House spokesman Davis Ingle said neither Trump nor his family is directly involved in any portfolio investment decisions, though he did not address the allegation that the president was improperly using his office, Reuters reported. Ingle added, on the lawsuit, without addressing its allegations directly: "President Trump only acts in the best interests of the American public – which is why they overwhelmingly re-elected him to this office." Donald Trump Jr., listed in Trump Media's Securities and Exchange Commission filings as trustee of the family trust, with sole voting and investment power, did not respond to a comment request, and questions about his role were referred to the Trump Organization, which did not respond, Reuters said.

Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Adam Schiff of California said in July 2026 that they had asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate whether the service violated securities laws. They described it as a "shocking abuse" of office by a president seeking personal gain, without providing further explanation in the Reuters account. The SEC declined to comment. Warren and Schiff's argument, echoed by other critics, is that privileged, paid-for speed in receiving presidential statements benefits well-funded institutional investors at the expense of ordinary investors, and raises insider-trading and market-fairness questions.

The legal challenge is sharper still. On August 12, 2026, The Intercept Media and the Freedom of the Press Foundation filed suit in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, seeking to block the White House from posting official government announcements exclusively on Truth Social while the paid feed exists. Their complaint called the scheme "extraordinary, corrupt and unconstitutional" and, in Reuters' summary, "profoundly corrupt". It argues the service violates the First Amendment rights of the public who do not have equal access to the information, and the Fifth Amendment by charging "unreasonable sums" for equal access to information guaranteed by law. The complaint's central line, quoted by USA TODAY, is: "There is no legitimate, let alone significant, governmental interest in giving preferential access to government information to those who pay the President's private company."

That case has since drawn wider support. On September 21, 2026, 53 former federal prosecutors and agents filed an amicus brief supporting the lawsuit, and on September 25, 2026, the Electronic Frontier Foundation filed briefs arguing the plan violates Americans' First Amendment rights to equal access to official government information. Ryan Crosswell, a former Justice Department public corruption prosecutor, said: "Selling early access to the president's official statements isn't just bad government — it's the kind of self-dealing the public integrity laws exist to stop." Seth Stern of the Freedom of the Press Foundation called the arrangement "blatantly corrupt and unconstitutional". No court ruling on the merits has been reported, and the suit remains ongoing.

Why It Matters

This story matters because it sits at the intersection of three things that are usually kept apart: a president's public statements, a private company's revenue, and the plumbing of financial markets. When a president announces policy on a platform his family trust partly owns, and that platform then sells faster access to those announcements, the line between governing and monetising governing becomes difficult to draw, even if every post eventually becomes public for free.

It matters for market fairness. Financial markets depend on the idea that material information reaches all investors at roughly the same time. A 50-millisecond head start, sold for up to $100,000 a month, does not break that principle in the way a secret tip would, but it strains it: only firms that can afford the fee get the fastest version, and in high-frequency trading, fastest is often all that counts. If the practice spreads, the question will not be whether information is public, but how public, how fast, and for whom.

It matters for press freedom and public access, too. The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation argue that timely access to the president's posts is critical to their work, and that conditioning faster access on paying the president's company burdens their right to receive information on equal terms. If courts accept that argument, it could reshape how official communications on social media are treated. If they reject it, it could entrench a model in which a president's statements are a commercial product first and a public record second.

What Happens Next

The immediate next step is the market's reaction to the naming of Bloomberg, Susquehanna and Jump Trading. Trump Media has not confirmed the three deals, and the firms have declined to comment, so the next public signal may come from Trump Media's next quarterly results, when McGurn has promised more frequent updates on Truth API's progress, or from a filing that names customers. Watch also for whether other news and data providers, including Reuters, reverse their current position and subscribe, and whether the customer count, last described as in the mid-teens, keeps climbing.

The legal track runs in parallel. The Intercept case, assigned to Judge Paul Oetken in the Southern District of New York, will test whether a paid speed advantage for official announcements violates the First and Fifth Amendments. A ruling for the plaintiffs could force the White House to stop posting official announcements exclusively on Truth Social, or to give equal-speed access to all. A ruling for the administration would leave the model intact and invite other platforms, and other officials, to copy it.

The regulatory track is quieter but potentially just as consequential. The SEC has declined to comment on Warren and Schiff's request for an investigation, and no enforcement action has been announced. If the SEC does open an inquiry into whether Truth API violates securities laws, it would put a regulator appointed by the administration in the position of judging a product sold by the president's company. If it does not, critics are likely to argue that the absence of scrutiny is itself the story.

For ordinary investors, the practical takeaway is narrower and more immediate: by the time a Trump post reaches a phone screen, a trading algorithm may already have acted on it. That has been true, in a milder form, for years, as news wires and data feeds have always been faster than social media scrolling. Truth API makes the gap explicit, priced, and sold by the platform itself, and that explicitness is why a Reuters exclusive about three subscribers has become a story about the presidency, the markets and the price of being first.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Truth API? Truth API is Trump Media and Technology Group's licensed, business-to-business data feed, announced on July 16, 2026, and live since August 1, 2026. It delivers posts from Truth Social's 10 most influential accounts, including President Donald Trump's, in real time, directly to subscribers' systems, milliseconds ahead of the public app.

Who has signed up for faster Truth Social access? Reuters reported on October 28, 2026, citing people with direct knowledge, that Bloomberg, Susquehanna International Group and Jump Trading have agreed to pay for the service. None of the three commented, and Trump Media said the reporting was based on misleading information from anonymous sources.

How much does Truth API cost? The service is sold for up to $100,000 a month, with a reported $60,000-a-month rate for firms committing to three years. Trump Media told investors in August 2026 it had signed more than 10 customer agreements, mostly with Wall Street trading firms paying $60,000 to $100,000 a month.

Why does a 50-millisecond advantage matter? High-frequency trading software can read, analyse and execute a trade in thousandths of a second. A 50-millisecond head start on a market-moving presidential post can therefore let a firm buy or sell before most investors have even seen the post, which is why the product is aimed at trading firms and data providers.

Is Truth API legal? That is contested and unresolved. The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation sued in August 2026, arguing it violates the First and Fifth Amendments, and Democratic senators have asked the SEC to investigate. Trump Media says it is an industry-standard API product delivering public information more efficiently. No court ruling on the merits has been reported.
