Alexander brothers sentenced to 30 years in prison each on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in a Manhattan federal courtroom, closing one of the most closely watched sex trafficking cases in recent New York history. Tal Alexander, 40, and his younger twin brothers Oren and Alon Alexander, both 39, stood side by side as United States District Judge Valerie E. Caproni imposed the sentences after a daylong hearing in which about a dozen women described, in their own words, what the brothers had done to them and what it had cost them. The sentences, 30 years each plus 10 years of supervised release, fell between the two positions argued in court: prosecutors had asked for life in prison, while defence lawyers had asked for the 15-year mandatory minimum.

Key Points

• Tal, Oren and Alon Alexander were each sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, by Judge Valerie E. Caproni in Manhattan.
• The brothers were convicted in March 2026, after a five-week trial, of sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and related charges.
• Prosecutors had sought life sentences; defence lawyers had sought the 15-year mandatory minimum for each brother.
• Eleven women testified at trial about being sexually assaulted by one or more of the brothers, and prosecutors said more than 70 women had reported accounts to investigators.
• About a dozen women delivered victim impact statements at the sentencing hearing, many of them asking the judge to impose the maximum sentence.

What Happened

The sentencing hearing lasted most of the day in a Manhattan federal courtroom packed with victims and their supporters. One by one, women who had testified at trial, and at least one who had not, took the stand to describe the lasting damage of assaults that prosecutors said stretched back years, including to the brothers' time in high school. Several spoke under pseudonyms. A woman using the name Katie Moore told the court: "These men spent years treating woman and girls as though our lives, body, voices, humanity meant nothing. But we are not disposable and they are not untouchable."

Another woman, using the name Maya Miller, told the court that after Tal Alexander raped her in 2014, she lost all sense of safety. "I carry a quiet funeral within me for the person I might've become if this never happened to me," she said. A woman who went by the pseudonym Isa Brooks said she was 16 years old when she was raped by Tal and Alon Alexander, and that the experience destroyed her ability to trust herself. "I had no idea the danger I was in til it was too late," she said. Another woman said that when she planned to come forward, Tal Alexander threatened her by saying he knew where her sister worked.

During the women's speeches, the three brothers showed little emotion, staring ahead or conferring with their lawyers, who said they had advised their clients not to look at the victims while they spoke so that it would not be misconstrued as staring. Prosecutor Elizabeth Espinosa told the court the brothers deserved the maximum punishment, saying the facts of the case "paint a truly devastating picture".

Background and Context

The Alexander brothers were once at the height of wealth and society in New York and Miami. Tal and Oren Alexander were top luxury real estate brokers, first at Douglas Elliman and then, from 2022, at their own boutique brokerage, Official, where they catered to celebrity clients and helped sell some of the most expensive homes in the country, including hedge-fund manager Ken Griffin's record $240 million Midtown penthouse. Alon Alexander, Oren's twin, was an executive at the family's private security company. Their fall began with their arrests in December 2024.

At the five-week trial that ended in March 2026, prosecutors laid out what they called a yearslong playbook: the brothers used their wealth, luxury homes, yachts and parties to lure women, then drugged and raped them, many while they were unconscious or incapacitated. Eleven women testified at trial about being sexually assaulted by one or more of the men, though prosecutors said more than 70 women had reported their accounts to investigators. Four of the women who testified were minors at the time of the attacks, including one woman prosecutors identified in a video Oren took of an assault. The jury convicted the brothers on 10 counts, including sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and inducing a person to travel to engage in unlawful sexual activity. Alon and Tal were also convicted of sex trafficking a minor, while Oren was convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Alexander Brothers Sentenced: What the Judge Said

Before handing down the sentences, Judge Caproni described the brothers as being "like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". She told the packed courtroom: "To some people they are total gentlemen," while to others they were "sadistic, misogynistic sexual predators". She added, in words carried by several outlets: "Your conduct was monstrous." The judge said the brothers' arguments about rehabilitation rang hollow because they had not admitted that what they had done was wrong, and she noted that no old or close friends of the brothers had written letters of support to the court. Most of the 39 letters submitted on their behalf came from family members and friends of their parents, including their parents Orly and Shlomy, Alon's wife Shani and their oldest brother Niv.

The brothers themselves addressed the court before sentencing. Oren Alexander denied raping anyone but said he regretted the way he had spoken about women, and blamed the culture he grew up in. "I came of age at the height of the hookup culture, at the time of the Howard Stern Show and the glorification of Playboy," he said. "The way I spoke about women was not just crude, it was disgusting," he added, before insisting: "My brothers and I have never drugged and raped anyone." Tal Alexander asked the judge to sentence him to the same prison as his brothers. All three brothers have consistently maintained their innocence and said they plan to appeal. Their family also hired attorney Alan Dershowitz to seek a presidential pardon, the New York Times reported in September.

Reactions and Quotes

Prosecutors had asked Judge Caproni to impose life sentences for each brother, and also sought a combined $4.75 million in fines plus restitution to some victims. Defence lawyers called the government's recommendation "cruel, unprecedented, unprincipled and aggressively inconsistent with decades of research", and argued that 15 years, the minimum sentence for the charges, was sufficient. The 30-year sentences split the difference, doubling the minimum while stopping short of life.

After the March verdict, then-United States Attorney Jay Clayton said: "This verdict cannot undo the effects of heinous abuse the Alexanders' many victims endured, but it does send a message: New Yorkers want to bring an end to sex trafficking in all our communities." The case has also drawn wider cultural attention: a new three-part Peacock documentary, "The Wolves of Real Estate: The Alexander Brothers", examines the case, featuring accounts from survivors and evidence presented at trial.

Why It Matters

The Alexander brothers case matters because it tests whether wealth and social standing still buy a different kind of justice. For years, prosecutors argued, the brothers' money, luxury lifestyle and connections allowed them to operate with impunity, luring women with promises of glamorous experiences and then silencing them with threats and intimidation. The 30-year sentences, among the longest handed down in a recent federal sex trafficking case involving defendants of this profile, signal that a jury and a judge were willing to treat that pattern as a trafficking enterprise rather than a series of individual encounters.

The case also matters for what happens next in the courts. The brothers have said they will appeal, and civil lawsuits brought by other accusers are still pending. How an appeals court treats the convictions, and whether any pardon effort gains traction, will determine whether Tuesday's sentences stand as the final word. For the women who spoke in court, the sentence was not the end of the story either: as Maya Miller put it, the assault was "a life sentence that I never asked for".

What Happens Next

The brothers will now be assigned to federal prisons, with Tal Alexander's request to serve his sentence alongside his brothers to be considered by the Bureau of Prisons. Defence lawyers have said they plan to appeal the convictions, a process that could take years. Prosecutors' requests for fines and restitution will also be resolved in further proceedings, and the brothers face continuing civil litigation from accusers. No date has been set for any appeal hearing, and no pardon has been granted. For now, the 30-year sentences stand, and the brothers, who were once among the most visible names in luxury real estate, will spend the next three decades behind bars.
