Wall Street bounced back on Monday, 26 October 2026, as AI stocks rallied and cheaper oil helped sentiment, with all three major US indexes closing higher ahead of a busy week for big tech earnings and the Federal Reserve.

The Closing Numbers

- Dow Jones: 52,361.58 — up 0.28% - S&P 500: 7,676.77 — up 0.70% - Nasdaq: 26,169.38 — up 0.82%

Wall Street bounced back on Monday as AI stocks rallied after Anthropic's IPO filing, and cheaper oil helped sentiment (Reuters closing report, Monday October 26).

The S&P 500 (^GSPC +0.70%) gained 0.70% to 7,677, the Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC +0.82%) rose 0.82% to 26,169 as AI optimism returned, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI +0.28%) edged up 0.28% to 52,362, diverging from Friday's energy-driven session as oil prices retreated.

Why Did Stocks Rise?

Technology led the day, while communication services fell again — Meta dropped about 1.9% after unveiling a plan to raise up to $95 billion for AI infrastructure.

U.S. stocks climbed on Monday, October 26, as Anthropic's public IPO filing revived enthusiasm for artificial intelligence ahead of technology earnings and the Federal Reserve's interest-rate decision.

Anthropic, the company behind Claude, confirmed that it filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission and intends to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker "ANT".

Semiconductors led the advance, with Nvidia ( +2.39%) and Micron ( +2.98%) leading.

Oil, Gold and Bonds

Oil gave back a little of last week's surge. Brent settled Monday at $115.81 a barrel, down 0.78%, and WTI settled at $101.76, down 1.46%.

Gold prices rose 0.46% to $4,026.30 as of U.S. market close and the 10-Year Treasury yield rose 0.04% to 5%, a level that keeps borrowing expensive across the economy.

What Happens Next?

This week's main event is the US Federal Reserve meeting, today and tomorrow (October 27–28), with the rate decision on Wednesday, October 28. Markets see only a small chance of a move this week — about a 12.7% probability of a rate hike, according to CME FedWatch data reported by Reuters.

Also on the calendar: US inflation (PCE) data on Thursday, and earnings from Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon this week.
